Part of me REALLY wants to get on this bandwagon.... but I'm just not too sure I can commit.
Years ago, while working for a local newspaper, I did an article where I featured a homeowner who lived as natural (free of toxins, dyes, and even plastic products) as she could and caused as little waste as possible. Wouldn't you know it, paper towels were high up on her list to speak about.
As I stood in her kitchen, I noticed a neatly stacked tower of white hand towels. It took me a minute but it slowly sparked a lightbulb that beamed connection - those washable rags were her paper towels.
It seems like I use paper towels for everything. I don't want to put it out there like I have a ton of waste in my home because I really don't but I've noticed my mannerisms. If I'm putting something in the microwave, I grab paper towel to drape over the top. A drop of coffee or what have you hits the floor and there goes another strip of paper towel to wipe that up. When I spray the counters down with a cleaner, I typically reach for a paper towel. Can all these moments be replaced by something I use and throw in my washing machine? How about those nasty, sticky spills like juice? Can reusable paper towels be the answer? Comment below and let me know your experience.
I'm tempted to order these from Marley's Monsters as I recently saw a TikTok video about how to put the pretty-colored towels back on the roll when clean. Marley's has so many designs that it makes it fun to try something new!
